Lock Periods & Multipliers

When you stake $MINT, the length of time you choose to lock your tokens directly affects how much veMINT you receive — and therefore how big your boost is.

How Lock Periods Work

You choose a lock duration when you stake. The longer you commit, the more veMINT you get per $MINT staked.

  • Shorter locks = less veMINT, smaller boost
  • Longer locks = more veMINT, bigger boost

Lock periods can range up to a maximum of 2 years. The relationship is proportional — locking for the maximum period gives you the full veMINT amount, while shorter locks give you a fraction.

Example: If you stake 1,000 $MINT:

  • Locking for 2 years (max) might give you 1,000 veMINT
  • Locking for 1 year would give you roughly 500 veMINT
  • Locking for 6 months would give you roughly 250 veMINT

The more veMINT you hold, the higher your XP and rakeback boosts.

Can I Change My Lock?

  • Add more tokens — You can stake additional $MINT on top of your existing position at any time.
  • Extend your lock — You can increase your lock duration to earn more veMINT.
  • Early unstaking — If you unlock early (where permitted), there will be a significant penalty, which may include burning a portion of your staked tokens. This is by design to reward long-term commitment.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • veMINT does not decay over time — your boost stays consistent throughout your lock period.
  • There is a maximum boost cap, so there's a point beyond which staking more won't increase your boost further. This keeps the system fair.
  • Your boost is updated based on a snapshot of your holdings (typically daily), so changes won't reflect instantly.

Choosing the Right Lock Period

It comes down to how long you're comfortable committing:

  • Playing regularly and want maximum rewards? Go for a longer lock — you'll earn more XP and rakeback on every bet.
  • Want flexibility? A shorter lock still gives you a meaningful boost with less commitment.
  • Not sure yet? You can always start with a shorter lock and extend it later.
